The Strategic Partnerships Unit's mission is to build stronger communities in a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable manner.
The Unit is responsible for the Sustainable Community Strategy which is led by the County Partnership "Hertfordshire Forward" (formerly known as Herts Together). Additionally, the Unit supports the Lead Officers and liaison with District Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs).
The Unit also has the lead on Hertfordshire's Local Area Agreement - a contract between central and local govenrment designed to improve services to the public.
Following the Best Value Review of Voluntary Sector Funding, the Unit now has lead responsibility for ensuring that Hertfordshire attracts its ‘fair share’ of funding available within the East of England. The Unit also provides the support for the countywide Hertfordshire Compact "Getting it Right Together" which was launched in April 2001. The Compact is the agreement between the local voluntary and community sector and the county council and sets out the main principles that underpin how both sectors will aim to work together for mutual advantage and the communities' benefit.
