Who to contact in an emergency

Emergencies

Adult Care Services emergency service

If you, or the person you are concerned about, are already in contact with a mental health service, you can call the service direct. There will be a telephone number on the appointment card, or on any letters from them.

If you think that someone may be a risk to themselves or to others, you can approach the police for help.

In an out of office hours social care emergency, please contact the Emergency Duty Team on 01438 737400.

Children Schools and Families emergency service

In an out of office hours emergency relating to children and their families please contact us on 01438 737500.

Emergency services

Fire stations: in case of emergencies always dial 999 and ask for Fire and Rescue. Local fire stations can be contacted for non-urgent matters. Please follow the link Fire stations.

Police stations: in case of emergencies always dial 999 and ask for Police. For details of your local station, please follow the link Police stations.

Hospitals: if an ambulance is needed in an emergency situation always dial 999. All general hospitals provide a 24 hour Accident and Emergency service.

For non-urgent matters, local hospitals can be contacted by following the link Local Hospitals.

Gas

If you smell gas, telephone the gas emergency number: 0800 111 999.

Electricity

If you have a problem and wish to contact local providers 24 Seven in an emergency, for 24 Seven (East Anglia) telephone: 0800 7 838 838 and for 24 Seven (London) telephone: 0800 0280 247.

Floodline

If you wish to get details on flooding, call 0845 988 1188.
